Evelyn Alonso Rohner

BA (hons) and Pg Dip Architecture (RIBA), Universidad of Westminster London, Tutored by David Green (Archigram) and Jason Griffith.

 

Evelyn´s professional career started in London after finishing university while working for Hugh Broughton Architects on the trade Union Building and the Barrister Chambers..

In 2001 she moved to Gran Canaria and established her own office where she developed many projects and built work of all kinds for the private and public sector. In 2009 since work was slowing down she decided to start competing for work with many successful competition entries such as the Gold Medal in the Miami Beach Biennial, the Bering Straight International Competition to connect the Asian and American continent or the refurbishment of the Basílica de Nuestra Merced (by Oíza y Gutiérrez 1949).

 

She also finished finalist of other international ideas competitions like Township, where she and the artist Laura Gonzalez, explored trans-disciplinary working in the context of the urban space through new technology.

 

Currently she is taking some of these theories to a more theoretical field in her thesis dissertation.
